Wolfgang Moritz Delphin Noble Lord and Baron von Plotho (born September 7, 1879 in Zerben , Province of Saxony , † July 1946 , missing) was a German lieutenant general in World War II .

Life

Plotho was the son of the manor owner, district administrator and writer Wolfgang von Plotho and Bernadine, née von Bredow . In 1899 he joined the Prussian Army and became a lieutenant on January 30, 1900 with an officer's license . In the further course of his military career he worked as a captain in the Grand Ducal Mecklenburg Grenadier Regiment No. 89 , with which he went into the field at the beginning of the First World War . During the war, Plotho was assigned to the General Staff and transferred to the General Staff of the 231st Division . On May 18, 1918, he became a major .

After the end of the war he was accepted into the Reichswehr . Here Plotho was among other things the commander of the 2nd Battalion of the 12th Infantry Regiment and as a colonel in the staff of the 4th (Prussian) Infantry Regiment in Kolberg . In 1929 he was with the character as a major general retired from active service.

When war broke out in 1939, it was reactivated. Plotho commanded the 269th Infantry Division from August 23, 1940 to March 1941 and the 285th Security Division from March 15, 1941 to September 5, 1942 , which was deployed in the rear army area during the war against the Soviet Union from November 1941 . In January 1943, Plotho received his final farewell. After the war he was probably abducted and has been missing ever since.
