Wolfram Schubert
Wolfram Schubert (born September 30, 1926 in Körbitz ) is a German painter , graphic artist and university professor .
Life
After schooling at the Saldria in Brandenburg an der Havel , Wolfram Schubert volunteered for the Wehrmacht in 1944 . In the same year he got in Wroclaw in captivity and was used until 1949 to rebuild the Soviet economy.
In 1950 he began studying painting at the University of Applied Arts Berlin-Weißensee and graduated in 1955. Kurt Robbel , Horst Strempel and Bert Heller were among his teachers . As an aspirant , he stayed at the university until 1958. After that he worked as a freelancer .
In 1960 the family moved to Neubrandenburg . There he was district chairman of the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR from 1965 to 1988 . During this time, study trips took him to the Soviet Union , Romania , Uzbekistan , Guinea , Mali , Syria and North Korea . In 1969 he was one of the co-founders of the Center for Fine Arts in Neubrandenburg.
His painting Prager Frühling was shown for the first time in 1969 as part of an exhibition in Weimar . Just by renaming the picture in Confrontation , it was not removed from the exhibition.
In 1972 Walter Womacka brought him to the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art, where he worked as a lecturer until 1977 and headed the painting department.
After 1990 he gave up his studio. In 2003 he became a member of the Künstleronderbund in Germany . On the occasion of his 80th birthday, a large catalog of artistic works was published in 2006. In 2019 it became known that the Mecklenburg Lake District district would take over Wolfram Schubert's entire plant.
Wolfram Schubert lived and worked in Potzlow in the Uckermark from 1970 to 2020 . Today he lives with his wife in the Altmark .

- 1975 Bread for All , painting for the Palace of the Republic , which also became famous as a postage stamp.
- 1978 Unity of people and party , mural on the building of the SED district leadership in Prenzlau (demolished in 2005)

- Participation in the central art exhibitions of the GDR from 1967 to 1988 as well as various district art exhibitions .
