The table tennis World Cup 2001 took place for the men in his 22 host from 8 to 11 November at the Italian Courmayeur and the women in his fifth host from 17 to 19 August at the Chinese Wuhu instead. Gold went to Uladsimir Samsonau from Belarus and Zhang Yining from China .

mode

16 athletes took part in each competition, divided into four groups of four athletes each. The group first and second advanced to the main round, which was held in knockout mode. The semi-final losers played a game for third place. The men played with four winning sets, the women in the group phase and the game for third place with two winning sets, otherwise with three winning sets.
