Wortelstetten

Wortelstetten is a district of the municipality of Buttenwiesen in the Swabian district of Dillingen on the Danube . The place was incorporated into Buttenwiesen on May 1, 1978. It is located three kilometers southeast of Buttenwiesen on the Iller-Lech-Platte .

history

Wortelstetten was first mentioned in the 11th century as the "Wartolfesteten". The place was probably created as an extension of Ehingen and Frauenstetten . In the 13th century, a lower noble family , the lords of Wortelstetten, is mentioned in the village . Possibly their property fell to the neighboring Hohenreich rule , who later owned most of the property in the village. Further shares in the manorial lordship were owned by the rich dinners and, before 1399, the marshals of Rechberg and the lords of Pappenheim . The Donnsberg lordship also temporarily owned the place. With the incorporation of Wortelstetten into the Wertingen dominion , the place became Bavarian and belonged to the Wertingen district court . The ownership of monasteries in the village also came to Bavaria in the course of secularization in 1802 .

Religions

Wortelstetten belonged to the parish in Ehingen until 1988 and became a parish itself that year. Wortelstetten had a church since the 14th century at the latest. The current parish church of St. George was built in 1905. Neuweiler also belongs to the parish of Wortelstetten . The parish of Wortelstetten is now part of the Buttenwiesen parish community.
