Vorderried is a part of the municipality of Buttenwiesen in the Swabian district of Dillingen on the Danube . The church village is one kilometer south of Buttenwiesen.

history

Vorderried was first mentioned in 1292 as "Obernriet". In 1297 the place appears as "Western" or "Obernrieth", in 1236 as "Sant Johans Rieth". St. Johannes and finally Vorderried were the later names of the place. As the part of the name Ried for clearing shows, the place was created as a clearing settlement.

In 1292, the cheesecloths of Kühlenthal sold their property in the village to the Kommende Donauwörth of the Teutonic Order , which remained wealthy in Vorderried until the 18th century. In addition, the Kaisheim monastery was the most important landlord in the village.

Religions

On the edge of the village is the branch church of St. Johannes Baptist, which had an old burial right. It was built around 1680. Vorderried belonged to the Lauterbach parish until 1830 and was then incorporated into Buttenwiesen.
