Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings is a direct-to-DVD - Horror from the year 2011 . The film is a prequel to Wrong Turn from 2003.

action

The film begins with a flashback to 1974: In the mental hospital in Glenville, the director of the facility, Dr. Ryan the psychologist Dr. Ann McQuaid on the area in which, among other things, three siblings disfigured by incest and cannibalized - in Wrong Turn they are only called "One Eye", "Saw Tooth" and "Three Finger" - are included. With the help of a hairpin that went unnoticed by Dr. McQuaid was stolen, the siblings manage to break out of their cell. They free the other prisoners and murder the psychologist and the prison director.

In 2003: The film jumps 29 years into the future. A group of young students prepare a snowmobile trip to spend a weekend at Porter's cabin in the mountains. On the way there, however, the group gets caught in a snow storm and takes a wrong turn. You come across the disused sanatorium and want to spend the night there. The group toured the clinic, not realizing that the three cannibal brothers still call this place home. After a little party in the hallways of the sanatorium, Vincent walks through the hallways and discovers the body of his friend Porter, who should be in his hut. After screaming in horror, Saw-Tooth kills him by ramming a metal rod through his head.

The next morning the rest of them look for Vincent. The group splits up and looks after him in different corridors. Jenna runs into the cannibals in the kitchen who are preparing porter . In a panic, she runs back to the group that has found each other in a clinic's function room. When Jenna tells them about her discovery, Porter's jacket is thrown into the room, where the group finds their friend's severed head. Claire shrinks back in horror from the severed head and is suddenly wrapped in a noose made of barbed wire. Above her on the balcony in the hall are the three cannibals who are starting to hang Claire. Kyle tries to help her, but the barbed wire wraps itself tighter and tighter around her head. That's why it eventually falls to the ground. The group storms outside in panic and finds out that the cannibals have paralyzed their snowmobiles. Lauren decides to ski to get help. The others want to hide in the director's office in the sanatorium.

Kenya, Bridget, Sara, Jenna, Kyle and Daniel barricade themselves in the office, where they find the cannibal brothers' medical records. Sara arms herself with a poker and goes with Daniel and Kyle to look for more weapons. Kyle remembers a room he discovered while searching for Vincent that had many knives in it. The group sets off, but is surprised by Three-Finger , who laughingly chases the trio. You lock yourself in the room with the knives and wait for him to pass. At the same time, another cannibal tries to gain access to the office where the other girls are. However, you manage to drive him away with a letter opener. When Sara, Kyle and Daniel make their way back to the others, Daniel is caught by the cannibals and cut open while he is alive. The group meets again and everyone is now armed with knives. They decide to confront the cannibals and manage to trick them into their old cell. They bolt the gate, but Kenya prevents Kyle from setting fire to the three brothers and killing them. The girls now want to look in the sanatorium for the ignition cables of the snowmobiles that the cannibals had stolen. Kyle tries to keep watch, but falls asleep. Three-Finger pulls the hairpin out of the cell's toilet and frees himself and his brothers again from the cell. The three attack the sleeping Kyle.

After a while, Kenya goes out to relieve Kyle from his guard duty. However, she has to find the abandoned cell and runs back to the four girls who are entrenched in the office again. A cannibal appears with a pillowcase over his head, groans and runs away again after a while. The girls decide to stop the cannibal and run after him. They throw him to the ground and start stabbing wildly on the back. When he stops moving, they turn him around, remove the cover from his head and find out that it was Kyle. The cannibals had cut out his tongue so he couldn't talk anymore. The girls now have to find a way out because they are being chased again by the brothers. In the attic they come across winter clothes that they put on and run into a corridor, where they lock the connecting door. Sara breaks the glass of a window and digs a hole in the snow that has gathered in front of it to get outside. Jenna is the last to climb through the snow tunnel, which seems to collapse before she makes it out. She is murdered by the cannibals with a huge drill. Sara, Kenya and Bridget run through the snow but are chased by the cannibals who got the snowmobiles running again. Bridget is eventually killed. At daybreak, a car drives down a road, adjoining this is a piece of forest in which Lauren took off on her skis. She froze to death all night. Kenya and Sara manage to set a trap for a cannibal and take the snowmobile. When the two drive away, however, they overlook a barbed wire fence and are beheaded while driving. A yellow tow truck appears on the snow-covered street and Three-Finger collects the severed heads.

Trivia

The prehistory in the fourth part of the Wrong Turn series contradicts the plot, which is described in Wrong Turn 2: Dead End . There the old gas station attendant tells us that the cannibals were disfigured by the paper mill near the forest and their chemical waste, and that many families gradually moved away. Except for the cannibal family, which eventually became incestuous and gave birth to increasingly uglier children. In addition, it appears to the viewer in the first parts of the series as if the cannibals have been hunting in the forest for years. In the fourth part, which takes place shortly before the first part, the brothers apparently only hunt down skiers and tourists near the sanatorium.

The FSK 18 version has cuts that are about 5 minutes long. Since no other version was released in Germany, the film is only available in full abroad.

The film grossed approximately $ 3.1 million in sales on Blu-ray and DVD in the United States.
