Wulf Dietrich von der Schulenburg

Wulf Dietrich von der Schulenburg (born July 7, 1731 in Salzwedel , † February 3, 1803 in Apenburg ) was a Danish lieutenant general .

Life

Wulf Dietrich was a member of the 1563 in the realm baron upscale line of Brandenburg noble family von der Schulenburg . He was a son of the Danish field marshal Werner XXIV. Von der Schulenburg (1718–1790) and Katharine Margarete von Brockdorff (1697–1775).

He spent the first years of his life in Paris and consequently entered French military service, where he advanced to colonel . He took part in the entire Seven Years' War on the French side and only switched to Danish services after 1757. As early as 1761 he became chief of the Baudissin cavalry regiment , which he held until 1763. It was not until 1767 that he was again promoted to the rank of colonel. At the same time he was Danish chamberlain and in 1769 became a knight of the Dannebrog Order . In 1770 Schulenburg was named again as chief of a dragoons regiment with a garrison in Fredericia . He was promoted to major general in 1775 , but a little later took his leave as lieutenant general and from 1778 spent his retirement years on the property he had inherited from his father .

So he was together with his younger brother Werner XXV. Heir to Beetzendorf and Rittleben. His residential property was Apenburg , to which Winterfeld also belonged.

From his two marriages, first in 1757 with Margarete Charlotte Rosenkrantz (1728–1786), then in 1788 with Maximiliane Wilhelmine von Haxthausen , he had no children.

In 1790 Schulenburg was raised to the rank of imperial count .
