The village, first mentioned in writing in 1678, is the only place of the eponymous, 51.62 km² district council in the south of the Rajon Dolyna .

The village lies on the banks of the Misunka ( Мізунька ), a 51 km long left tributary of the Dniester -Zuflusses Switscha ( Свіча ), about 100 km southwest of the Oblastzentrum Ivano-Frankivsk .

Vyshiv has a ski area located at an altitude of 800  m and is a convenient starting point for trips to the main ridge of the Gorgany mountain range and to Lake Synevyr, the largest lake in the Ukrainian Carpathians.

The village is located on the regional road P-21 between the district center of Dolyna in the north, 42 km in the northeast, and the town of Khust in the Zakarpattia Oblast, 90 km to the southwest .
