Xavier Silas (born January 22, 1988 in San Antonio , Texas , United States ) is an American basketball player . He is currently under contract with San Lorenzo de Almagro in Argentina .

Career

Silas received his basketball training from 2006 to 2008 at the University of Colorado Boulder , then from 2008 to 2011 at Northern Illinois University . Due to the change, Silas had to sit out in the 2008/09 season. In his senior season (2010/11) with the Northern Illinois Huskies in the US college league NCAA , he averaged 22.3 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. Thanks to these achievements, he was appointed to the All- Mid-American Conference First Team.

In the 2011 NBA draft , Silas was not drafted. He started his professional career in France with BCM Gravelines . He returned to the United States in December 2011, where he signed with the Philadelphia 76ers . These initially loaned him to the Maine Red Claws . In the course of the 2011/12 season, however, Silas completed four games for the 76ers.

During the 2012 NBA Summer League, Silas played for the 76ers. In the game against the Detroit Pistons , however, he suffered a head injury. The following season Silas spent again with the Maine Red Claws.

In November 2013, Silas moved to Israel to Maccabi Ashdod . After nine games, however, he left the team again and played the rest of the season in Argentina with Asociación Atlética Quimsa .

In the 2014/15 season, Silas initially received a contract with the Washington Wizards , for which he was not used. From January 2015 Silas played in Greece for Kifisia .

For the 2015/16 season, Silas moved to Telekom Baskets in Bonn , where he received a one-year contract. As early as November 2015, Silas and Telekom Baskets agreed to terminate the contract and ended their collaboration early. On November 19, Silas signed with the Argentine club San Lorenzo de Almagro .

Personal

Silas' father James Silas is also a basketball player and was active for the San Antonio Spurs and the Cleveland Cavaliers , among others . Xavier Silas has six brothers and one sister.
