Yannick Riendeau (born June 18, 1988 in Brossard , Québec ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the New York Islanders in the National Hockey League since February 2012 and for their farm team , the Bridgeport Sound Tigers , in the American Hockey League plays.

Career

Yannick Riendeau began his career as a hockey player with the Huskies de Rouyn-Noranda , for which he was active in the Canadian junior league QMJHL from 2004 to 2008 . The winger then moved to their league rivals Voltigeurs de Drummondville , with whom he won the Coupe du Président , the championship of the QMJHL, in the 2008/09 season . He played a major role in this success. He was elected to the league's All-Star Team. As the top scorer of the regular season with 126 points, he received the Trophée Jean Béliveau . With 58 goals and 68 assists, he also led these statistics. In the subsequent playoffs he was again top scorer with 29 goals and top scorer with 52 points. As Most Valuable Player of the Playoffs, he then received the Guy Lafleur Trophy . He was also one of the top players in the Canadian Hockey League in 2009 and was elected to the CHL First All-Star Team and received the CHL Top Scorer Award and the George Parsons Trophy . Due to his strong playing time he was signed on March 30, 2010 without having been drafted by the Boston Bruins from the National Hockey League .

In the 2009/10 season Riendeau ran for the farm team of the Boston Bruins, the Providence Bruins from the American Hockey League and the Reading Royals from the ECHL .

On February 27, 2012, the Boston Bruins transferred him to the New York Islanders together with Marc Cantin in exchange for Mike Mottau and Brian Rolston .
