Yasin Garcia Kolo (born May 25, 1992 in Göttingen ) is a German basketball player . The 2.08 meter long center player has been part of the squad of the second division club Wiha Panthers Schwenningen since summer 2019 .

Career

Kolo began playing basketball in his hometown of Göttingen in Lower Saxony and played in the youth department of ASC 1846 Göttingen . In the 2009/10 season he completed 16 games for the men's team of the ASC in the 2nd regional league as well as other assignments for the team "Team Göttingen" in the youth basketball league and went to the United States for the following season, where he spent a year played at Fayetteville Christian School in North Carolina . For the 2011/12 season Kolo began studying at East Carolina University (ECU) from NCAA Division 1 and received a place on the ECU squad. Within two seasons he played for East Carolina in only ten games and scored an average of 2.2 points per encounter - at times he had to sit out due to a broken foot.

After two years at ECU, he decided to move to the University of Hartford (also NCAA Division 1), but was only rarely used there (seven games with a point average of 7.0 in the 2013/14 season).

Kolo made another move and in 2014 joined Bellarmine University , an NCAA Division 2 college in Louisville , Kentucky . During the 2014/15 season he was not allowed to play due to the transfer regulations, but became a top performer of the "Knights" in his final season (2015/16). He scored an average of eleven points and 5.8 rebounds in 29 missions. He applied for the right to play for a sixth year in the NCAA, but then embarked on a professional career: Kolo returned to his home country and signed a two-year contract with Bundesliga club Tigers Tübingen in July 2016 . After the end of the 2016/17 season, in which Kolo scored an average of 1.2 points in 17 Bundesliga appearances, the contract was terminated by means of an option.

In June 2017 he was signed by the Ehingen / Urspring ( 2nd Bundesliga ProA ) syndicate, and at the end of November 2017 he moved to the Quakenbrück club Artland Dragons in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB . In 13 games in the shirt of Lower Saxony Kolo scored an average of 9.8 points and 6.5 rebounds. During the summer break of 2018, Kolo joined the RheinStars Cologne , who had previously voluntarily withdrawn from the ProA to the ProB. In January 2019, he had to undergo an operation on his shin and thus end the 2018/19 season.

At the beginning of July 2019, Kolo was signed by the Wiha Panthers Schwenningen (promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga ProA).

National team

Kolo was a member of the German U16 national team.
