Ylvis is a Norwegian comedian and entertainer duo , which consists of the brothers Vegard (born May 19, 1979 ) and Bård (born March 21, 1982 ) Ylvisåker . It became internationally known with a viral video called "The Fox" on the YouTube website .

Career

The brothers from Bergen had their first successes as a stage entertainer in their hometown in 2000 with the program Ylvis - en kabaret . Further shows followed, which made her known nationwide and also led to television appearances. In 2006 they hosted a radio show on NRK P3 for the first time and in the following year they produced the TV show Norges herligste , in which they were looking for the “greatest Norwegian” in the whole country. (In 2010 the search in Nordens Herligste was extended to all of Scandinavia.) This was followed by entertainment shows such as Ylvis møter veggen and Hvem kan slå Ylvis? (Who can beat Ylvis?), Which has a similar concept to Schlag den Raab .

Since 2011 the Ylvisåkers have had a weekly late night show on TVNorge called I kveld med Ylvis (Tonight with Ylvis). The two-hour programs are a mixture of talk and comedy. In 2012 they received the Norwegian Comedy Award for best TV / film performance.

For their show, the duo also produced videos as Einspieler or teaser . Several song parodies, for example about Stonehenge or Jan Egeland , they also published on YouTube and thus achieved eight-digit access numbers. After filming a birthday video for a member of the internationally successful Norwegian production team Stargate, Stargate returned the favor by producing a Ylvis music video. It was intended as a promotional video for the third season of their talk show beginning in September 2013 and is titled The Fox . The song is about the fact that there are all sorts of animal sounds, but it is not known which sounds the fox makes (“What does the fox say?” - “How does the fox do?”). Immediately after its release on September 3, the video went viral with over 25 million views in 10 days and over 400 million views in the first 6 months. In the streaming -charts the US rose The Fox at # 3 and reached # 29 of the official charts even before the song was officially released as a single. It later rose to the top 10 on the US charts. In her homeland, the song rose to number 7 and reached number 1 a week later . The Fox also entered the charts in numerous other countries .
