action

1922 in the Aegean . Former US soldier Adam Dyer is rescued from a sinking ship by Josh Corey and his gang of mercenaries. Adam, from whom all valuables have been taken as a reward for the rescue, joins Josh. Osman Bey, the governor of the area, hires the mercenaries to accompany his three daughters and their friend Aila to Smyrna, today's Izmir . At the same time, they are supposed to guard a cargo of gold that Colonel Elçi has taken with him.

However, the Colonel plans to steal the gold cargo. Adam soon finds out that the supposed gold charge is made of lead. But Aila informs him that a box full of jewels has been taken instead of the gold. Adam, Josh and Aila want to share the treasure. But Elçi also learns about the jewels. While trying to steal it, Aila kills him. Aila and Josh flee with the jewels towards Smyrna, followed by Adam. When they get there, the city is being overrun by rebels under General Mustafa Kemal Ataturk . The three are captured, the jewels confiscated. However, they unwittingly carried an ancient copy of the Koran with them, which the rebel leader was looking for. The grateful general dismisses the three.

Reviews

"A turbulent spectacle designed for a large exhibition, which reduces the war to an adventure, but at least offers some interesting landscape shots from Anatolia."

“If there is something positive about this politically questionable, lengthy adulation of adventurism, it is the landscape shots from Turkey, but that's just not enough. Conclusion: The story is tepid, historically not even correct. "

"Curtis and Bronson are a" surprisingly good team, "but the script can't save it."

"An action film that can be viewed from the age of 16 without hesitation, since it also conveys ethical and human values."
