action

Costa is a young naval officer and son of a fleet admiral who accidentally ends up in the spy center of an enemy power. He is caught, brought to justice and unceremoniously sentenced the innocent lamb to death. But the hangman has pity and lets the young fellow escape. Soon there are numerous hunters on his trail who are mercilessly hunting Costa. Eventually, the enemy agents get hold of him and leave him in a balloon in nowhere.

A spy joins him and the two soon fall in love. The plot is getting more and more crazy. Costa's twin sister Elena, who in the meantime has taken on his role as an ensign on board the warship on which Costa otherwise serves, tries to save the brother when he is about to be dragged before a court martial for high treason. Together with another ship's officer, she sets out to find the lost Costa until everything dissolves into a happy ending.

Reviews

“We like to accept mix-ups from Shakespeare. But this modern mix is too desperately trained for gags to be a lot of fun. Not only does the little sister take part in a naval maneuver as an ensign for the kidnapped brother, assassinations by evil and less evil spies are also involved. The sharks who tried to win the title can only prove their tenderness by spurning an appetizing spy. Anna Karina develops rascal charm as much as she can and has a couple of nice partners in Gerard Barray, Mario Adorf and Fritz Tillmann. Whether Michel Deville will earn a lot of laughs with his agent persiflage seems questionable. "

- Hamburger Abendblatt from March 28, 1967

In the lexicon of international films it says: “Parodistic comedy full of puns and slapstick quotes. Leading actress Anna Karina proves her comic talent here and is more convincing than the often bland jokes around it. ”Even the Evangelical film observer doesn't think much of the flick:“ The old clothes are freshened up with fashionable ingredients, but tired despite Anna Karina's nice game and Mario Adorf through meager action.
