Zaborowo ( German Saborowen , 1938 to 1945 Heideberg ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the Gmina Purda (rural community Groß Purden ) in the powiat Olsztyński ( Allenstein district ).
Geographical location
Zaborowo is located in the southern center of the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship , 21 kilometers northwest of the former district town of Szczytno ( Ortelsburg in German ) and 22 kilometers east of the current district metropolis of Olsztyn (Allenstein) .
history
The former Saborowen , which originally consisted of a few small farms, was first mentioned in 1628. In 1700, however, Saborowen was listed as one of the "so utterly desolate villages". On May 15, 1741, however, it had received the privilege, which was confirmed in a second document dated April 6, 1790.
In 1874 Saborowen was incorporated into the newly established district of Klein Rauschken ( Polish: Rusek Mały ), which belonged to the East Prussian district of Ortelsburg . In 1910 there were 60 inhabitants registered in the place, in 1933 there were 63.
On June 3, 1938 - officially confirmed on July 16 - Saborowen was renamed "Heideberg" for political and ideological reasons to avoid foreign-sounding place names. The population was 65 in 1939.
When all of southern East Prussia fell to Poland in 1945 as a result of the war , Heideberg was also affected. The place was given the Polish name form "Zaborowo" and is now a place in the community of Purda (Groß Purden) , now part of the powiat Olsztyński ( Allenstein district ), until 1998 the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then assigned to the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .
church
Until 1945 Saborowen resp. Heideberg parish into the Protestant Church of Passenheim in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union . Today it is the same Protestant church in the city now called "Pasym", now part of the Masurian diocese in the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .
Before 1945, members of the Roman Catholic Church were - and still are - incorporated into the parish of Gillau , now in Polish Giławy , formerly part of the Diocese of Warmia , now the Archdiocese of Warmia .
school
There was no school in Saborowen (Heideberg). The children attended classes in Graskau ( Groszkowo in Polish ).
traffic
Zaborowo can be reached via a side road that leads from Giławy (Gillau) via Groszkowo (Graskau) directly into the village. A country road coming from Rudziska Pasymskie (Waldheim) also ends in Zaborowo. There is no connection to rail traffic .
