Zdeněk Plech

Zdeněk Plech (born July 3, 1977 in Brno ) is a Czech opera , concert and musical singer in the bass range , as well as a composer who has been a member of the Prague National Theater ensemble since 2004 .

Life

Zdeněk Plech studied singing at the Janáček Academy for Music and Performing Arts with Marta Beňačková in his hometown of Brno . His career began at the Moravian Theater in Olomouc , from 2000 to 2004 he was a member of the National Theater in Brno, where he played around 20 roles before he switched to the Prague National Theater ensemble. There and in a few other opera houses he can currently be heard (as of the 2018/19 season) with a broad repertoire.

Outside of his home country he was u. a. to be heard in Germany ( Berlin ), Austria , France , Hungary , Brazil and Japan . He also appeared at the Metropolitan Opera New York in 2004 and at the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto in 2006 .

His concert repertoire includes a. the bass parts in Dvořák's Stabat Mater , Bach's Christmas Oratorio and Verdi's Requiem .

Zdeněk Plech also appears in musicals (including Cats ) and wrote the musicals Marnotratný syn and Kazatel .

Since 2013 he has been teaching at the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno.
