Zebulon is a city and also the county seat of Pike County in the US state of Georgia with 1174 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Zebulon is about 60 km south of Atlanta .
history
Zebulon was founded in 1825 and named after Zebulon Pike , a US officer and explorer.
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the 1174 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 448 inhabited households, which gives an average of 2.56 people per household. There are a total of 511 households.
67.2% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring) with an average size of 3.15 persons. There were children under the age of 18 in 40.0% of all households and persons aged 65 or over in 25.2% of all households.
30.5% of the population were younger than 20 years, 27.0% were 20 to 39 years old, 25.3% were 40 to 59 years old, and 17.3% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 35 years. 45.9% of the population were male and 54.1% were female.
59.5% of the population identified themselves as whites , 35.2% as African American , 1.9% as Indians and 0.9% as Asian Americans . 0.7% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.9% to several ethnic groups. 1.4% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .
The average annual income per household was 37,788 USD , while 37.6% of the population lived below the poverty line.

Zebulon is crossed by US Highway 19 and Georgia State Route 18 . The nearest airport is Atlanta Airport (around 60 km north).

Zebulon has several public schools: The Pike County Primary, Elementary, Middle, and High School. The Son-Shine Christian Academy is a private elementary and middle school. The closest college is in Barnesville . There are also numerous colleges and universities in Atlanta.
crime
The crime rate in 2010 was 188 points (US average: 266 points) in the low range. There were three personal injuries, four break-ins, 30 thefts and two car thefts.

The 1983 film " Murder in the Wrong District " with Johnny Cash and Andy Griffith and the action comedy " The Tank " (1984) were partly shot in Zebulon.
