The Zeegenbach is an approx. 12 km long river in the Franconian Jura , approx. 15 km southwest of Bamberg near Strullendorf . It is a right and eastern tributary of the Regnitz . Its catchment area belongs to that of the Main .
Surname
In the official maps, the Zeegenbach is sometimes referred to as the “Ziegenbach”. In other unofficial maps the water in the lower reaches is also called “Strullendorfer Bach”. The Zeegenbach valley is also known as the Franconian Tuscany .
course
The stream rises east of the Strullendorf district of Zeegendorf in the karst area of Franconian Switzerland . There a multitude of small springs feed the water. The stream flows through the Zeegenbach valley towards Strullendorf. The villages of Zeegendorf, Mistendorf, Leesten, Wernsdorf and Amlingstadt , which belong to the municipality of Strullendorf, lie on its course . West of Strullendorf, the Zeegenbach crosses under the Rhine-Main-Danube Canal with the help of a culvert . The brook flows into the Regnitz north of Pettstadt .
