As Franconian Tuscany is called a tourist region in Upper Franconia in the district of Bamberg to the communities Litzendorf , Memmelsdorf and Strullendorf .

The term goes back to the Bamberg dialect poet Gerhard C. Krischker , who reported in a story in 1996 about his excursions into the Ellertal (occasionally Ellerntal). In 2005 the three municipalities decided to present themselves together as Franconian Tuscany. The gently undulating landscape at the foothills of the Franconian Jura at the gates of the world heritage city of Bamberg is reminiscent of the Italian namesake. The two highest peaks of the Bamberg district , the 585  m high Geisberg and the 559.5  m high Stammberg are located in the area.

The north-east of Franconian Tuscany is part of the Franconian Switzerland Nature Park . Located in the outskirts of the city Scheßlitz is the Giechburg , a landmark of the district, it forms the optical limit. In the southwest, the area near Strullendorf protrudes into the so-called Franconian river paradise. The Regnitz with its many tributaries flows there along the Main-Danube Canal. Between Pettstadt and Strullendorf you can cross the river with the only Regnitz ferry. To the west, the Franconian Tuscany borders the city of Bamberg .

Park and Schloss Seehof , the former summer residence of the prince-bishops of Bamberg, is one of the architectural highlights of the region. The virgin cave near Tiefenellern , a cult site from the Neolithic Age, the early Celtic barrows between Litzendorf and Geisfeld and the oldest wayside shrine in Franconia in Naisa are early testimonies of human creativity. There are three special features for lovers of modern art: the Sculpture Paths on the Fränkische Strasse of Sculptures , the Art and Contemplation Path and the Corridor and Art project.
