The Zeilberg is 463  m above sea level. NHN high mountain in the nature park and in the Haßberge district in the east of Lower Franconia , about two kilometers east of Maroldsweisach . It is one of the few still recognizable volcanoes of the Heldburg gang and namesake of the Zeilberge, which, as the highest part of the Itz-Baunach hill country, flow geologically to the west, but separated by the Baunach valley, into the actual Haßberge .

The volcano is 16 million years old and is made of nepheline basanite . In 1895 Erste Bayerische Basaltstein AG began mining the basalt in a quarry near Maroldsweisach. In 1900, Bayerische Hartstein AG followed with mining in the neighboring Voccawind . Every year 20 employees extract 800,000 tons of basalt. The fourth level is 371 meters above sea level. NHN. An adventure trail leads around the basalt quarry. The Haus am Zeilberg is a popular venue.
