Zella is a district of the Willingshausen community in the Schwalm-Eder district in northern Hesse .
geography
The cluster village is located in the southern part of the Schwalm landscape, northeast of the main town on the Schwalm tributary of the Eder . The federal road 254 leads past the place to the east. In between runs the route of the Treysa-Niederaula-Bad Hersfeld railway line, which was closed in 1995 and where Zella had a train station on the Schwalm tributary Grenff .
history
The village is mentioned for the first time in 1224. The name of the village is derived from Cella , a monastic settlement from which farms and villages were derived. During the Thirty Years' War , the village was completely burned down by the imperial troops of General Hans Rudolf von Breda on November 14, 1640, the day before the battle at Riebelsdorfer Berg , as well as Nieder Grenzebach , Steina , Leimbach , Loshausen , Ransbach and Salmshausen .
On December 31, 1971, as part of the regional reform in Hesse Willingshausen merged with Merzhausen and Zella to form the municipality of Antrefftal , which was combined with five other places to form a larger municipality on January 1, 1974. The new community gave itself the name Willingshausen, but the community administration was settled in the Wasenberg district.
