The Grenff , also called Grenf , is an approximately 21.9 km long, right-hand or southeastern tributary of the Schwalm in the East Hessian Bergland in the north Hessian Schwalm-Eder district and belongs to the river system and catchment area of the Weser .
course
The Grenff rises in the Ottrauer Bergland , part of the Fulda-Haune-Tafelland in the East Hessian Bergland, in the transition area to the Knüllgebirge . Its source is located 1.2 km southeast of the Ottrau district of Görzhain in a clearing on the northern flank of Frohnkreuzkopf (approx. 530 m above sea level ), the western foothills of the Rimberg ( 591.8 m ), at an altitude of about 395 m .
Initially, the Grenff, which runs mostly northwest, flows to and through Görzhain. From now on she is accompanied by the railway line Bad Hersfeld – Treysa (also called Knüllwaldbahn ), where she passes Ottrau station as the smallest Ottrau district, the local Boßmühle , then the stone mill , the Lenzenmühle , Kleinropperhausen and the cutting mill .
The Grenff then flows through the localities of Nausis on the river , after which it flows past the Bruchmühle , Neukirchen , Rückershausen , after which it passes the Sängermühle , and Riebelsdorf . Then the flowing water passes the Zella stop at the Knüllwaldbahn and the Klinkemühle .
When directly westerly of Grenff Willing Hausen district Loshausen it opens, after overcoming of about 181 m difference in altitude, on 214 m above sea level. NN into the Eder tributary Schwalm coming from the south .
