Suzuki Zenko
Suzuki Zenkō ( Japanese 鈴木 善 幸 ; born January 11, 1911 in Yamada (Iwate) ; † July 19, 2004 ) was a Japanese LDP politician. He was the 44th Prime Minister of Japan from July 17, 1980 to November 27, 1982 . His son-in-law Asō Tarō was Prime Minister of Japan from 2008 to 2009.
Live and act
Suzuki Zenko graduated from the training facility (水産 講習 所, Suisan Kōshūjo) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. In 1947 he was elected to the House of Commons as a candidate for the Socialist Party of Japan . In 1949 he moved to Minshu Jiyūtō (民主 自由 党), today's Liberal Democratic Party and was re-elected to the lower house and then re-elected 16 times. He was Minister for Post and Telecommunications in the Ikeda I Cabinet in 1960 , Chief Cabinet Secretary in the Ikeda III Cabinet in 1964, and Minister of Welfare in the Satō I Cabinet (1965 to 1966).
Suzuki also served as chairman of the LDP's board of directors. In 1980 he was elected as his successor after the sudden death of Prime Minister Ōhira . Two years later he resigned and was replaced by Nakasone . In 1990 Suzuki withdrew from political life. Suzuki was best known for his ability to resolve political differences and was less successful as Prime Minister.
