The gmina wiejska Zgierz is an independent rural municipality in Poland in the powiat Zgierz in the Łódź voivodeship . Its headquarters are in the city of Zgierz . The rural community, to which the city of Zgierz itself does not belong, has an area of 199 km², on which (as of June 30, 2019) 14,324 people live.

The rural municipality is located in the north of the voivodeship and includes the city of Zgierz in the north and east. 59% of the municipal area is used for agriculture, 29% is covered with forest.
history
From 1975 to 1998 the rural community belonged to the Łódź Voivodeship .
