Zhang Lin ( Chinese  张琳 , Pinyin Zhang Lin * 6. January 1987 in Beijing ) is a Chinese freestyle - swimmers .

Career

Zhang has started successfully in the elite sector since 2004. At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens , he swam the 200 and 400 meters freestyle, but did not get beyond the heats. At the short course world championships in Indianapolis in the same year he was seventh with the Chinese relays over 4 × 100 meters and 4 × 200 meters freestyle.

In 2005, Lin was eighth over 200 and sixth over 1500 meters freestyle at the World Championships in Montreal . In the national championships he won freestyle on the 200, 400 and 1500 meter routes. He won his first international medals in 2006. At the Pan Pacific Championships in Victoria , Canada , the Chinese won silver over 400 and bronze over 200 meters freestyle. At the 2006 World Short Course Championships in Shanghai he was third on the 1500 meter freestyle course and fourth over 400 meters and in the 4 × 200 meter freestyle relay.

The 2007 World Swimming Championships in Melbourne were not quite as successful . The best result was sixth place in the 200 meter freestyle.

Zhang Lin celebrated the greatest success of his career at the 2008 Summer Olympics in his hometown of Beijing. In the 400 meter freestyle he won the silver medal behind the South Korean Tae-Hwan Park . 29 July 2009, Zhang Lin, submitted to the FINA World Championships in Rome about 800 meters freestyle with a time of 07: 32.12 minutes a new world record on.
