Zhumadian
Zhumadian ( Chinese 驻马店 市 , Pinyin Zhùmǎdiàn Shì ) is a district-free city in the Henan Province of the People's Republic of China . Zhumadian has an area of 14,974 km² and approx. 7.23 million inhabitants (2010 census). About 477,000 people live in the actual urban settlement area of Zhumadian (2010 census). Several districts of the city were affected by the catastrophic Banqiao flood in 1975, killing tens of thousands.
Administrative structure
At the county level, Zhumadian consists of a municipality and nine counties. These are:
- Yicheng District (驿 城区), 770 km², 580,000 inhabitants, center, seat of the city government;
- Queshan County (确山县), 1,783 km², 500,000 inhabitants, capital: Panlong Township (盘龙 镇);
- Circle Biyang (泌阳县) km² 2789, 950,000 inhabitants, capital: greater community Bishui (泌水镇);
- Suiping district (遂平县), 1,080 km², 540,000 inhabitants, capital: Quyang municipality (灈 阳镇);
- Circle Xiping (西平县) km² 1098, 840,000 inhabitants;
- Circle Shangcai (上蔡县) 1,517 square kilometers, 1.36 million inhabitants, the capital: greater community Caidu (蔡都镇);
- Runan district (汝南 县), 1,306 km², 780,000 inhabitants, main town: Runing municipality (汝宁 镇);
- Circle Pingyu (平舆县) km² 1285, 940,000 inhabitants, capital: greater community Guhuai (古槐镇);
- Xincai district (新蔡县), 1,442 km², 1.02 million inhabitants, main town: Gulü municipality (古 吕 镇);
- Zhengyang District (正阳县), 1,904 km², 740,000 inhabitants, capital: Zhenyang Municipality (真 阳镇).
