Tin (II) fluoride is an inorganic- chemical compound. It is a salt made from tin and fluorine . The tin in this salt has the oxidation number + II.
Extraction and presentation
Tin fluoride can be produced by reacting tin , tin (II) oxide or tin (IV) oxide with hydrofluoric acid .
use
In low concentrations, tin fluoride is used alone or together with amine fluoride in toothpaste as a fluoride supplier and plaque reducer ( ATC code : A01AA04). The combination preparation Meridol made from amine fluoride and tin fluoride and other drug solutions containing tin fluoride can lead to yellowing of the teeth. The staining can be removed with normal toothpaste or whitening pasta.
