action

Mexico. An older count, a direct descendant of the hero Zorro, has an only son, Raimundo, of whom he is not exactly proud because he is extremely shy and fearful after having suffered a terrible fall as a small child. When Raimundo is confronted with a friend of his father's and his daughter, whom he should marry according to his will, he behaves so childish and silly that this plan is ruined.
Thereupon he decides to enter a monastery, and on the way there is caught in an attack on a tour group of a duke, in the course of which he is hit on the head. Raimundo transforms into a witty and above all courageous warrior who immediately begins to fight on the side of the attacked and helps them to victory over the robbers. The Duke gratefully accepted him into his service and sent him on a confidential mission.
Raimundo goes, pretending to be the duke, into the castle of the arch-rival of the actual duke, where his daughter is also. With skill and ideas, Raimundo manages to escape the numerous traps undamaged and fights down everything that gets in his way. He can also save the duke's daughter - both have fallen in love - and after a triumphant victory, which is credited to his client, finally marry.

criticism

“Italian parody of Zorro films. Joke and ridicule in an entertaining mix. "

  • “Another film by Mario Soldati, which shows ambitious efforts and commitment. Here he wants to dismantle the myth “Zorro - Douglas Fairbanks”. In terms of the result, however, it must be criticized that the boundaries and rules of the self-chosen genre were not stripped off, ” wrote Mario Siniscalco in 1952.

Remarks

Sophia Loren , still going under her real name Sofia Villani Scicolone , plays a minor supporting role as Conchita .
