Zsámbék ( German Schambeck ) is a Hungarian city in Pest County . It is located on the Autópálya M1 , around 30 km west of the Hungarian capital Budapest , and belongs to the small area Pilisvörösvár .
history
Zsámbék was first mentioned in 1050. The construction of a Premonstratensian monastery began around 1220 .

- The St. John's Church of the Premonstratensian Monastery from the middle of the 13th century has been preserved as a ruin. Until an earthquake in 1763 it was a three-aisled basilica without a transept.
