Pilisvörösvár small area

The small area Pilisvörösvár ( Hungarian: Pilisvörösvári kistérség ) was a Hungarian administrative unit ( LAU 1) in the north-west of Pest County in central Hungary until the end of 2012 . The southeast of the small area (in the villages of Solymár and Üröm) touched the Hungarian capital Budapest . In the course of the administrative reform, 9 of the 14 localities were transferred to the successor district of Pilisvörösvár (Hungarian: Pilisvörösvári járás ) at the beginning of 2013 , and 5 localities were transferred to the newly created district of Budakeszi in the south .

At the end of 2012 there were 66,748 inhabitants in an area of ​​245.42 km². The population density of 280 was higher than that of the county.

The administrative seat was in the city of Pilisvörösvár (13.838 Ew.), Zsámbék (5.199 Ew.) Also had the town charter. Three large municipalities each had more than 6,000 inhabitants: Solymár, Piliscsaba and Nagykovácsi. Together with the 9 rural communities (villages, in Hungarian Község ), they had an average population of 4,143 (on 15.62 km² each).
