Nagykáta small area

The Nagykáta small area (Hungarian Nagykátai kistérség ) was a Hungarian administrative unit ( LAU 1) in the east of Pest County in central Hungary until the end of 2012 . During the administrative reform in 2013, the area did not experience any changes, all 16 localities were transferred to the Nagykáta district (Hungarian Nagykátai járás ).

In 2009 76,909 inhabitants lived in an area of ​​712 km². The population density was 108 inhabitants per km² and was thus far below the county average.

The administrative seat was in the city of Nagykáta (12,576 inhabitants), Tápiószele (5,992 inhabitants) also had the town charter. Three large municipalities (Hungarian: nagyközség ) each had more than 5,000 inhabitants: Sülysáp, Tápiószecső and Tápiószentmárton. Together with the 11 municipalities ( község in Hungarian ) they had an average population of 3,971 (on 42.25 km² each).
