Sugar for the murderer (Original title: Un killer per sua maestà, Le teneur aime les bonbons ) is a crime film in Italian-German-French co-production from 1967/1968 . The film premiered in Germany on October 4, 1968, while he premiered in Italy on April 12, 1968 and in France on November 12, 1968.

King Faoud, ruler of the Asian country Kafiristan, is in Venice. While he is walking across St. Mark's Square, the professional killer Oscar Snell is waiting for him with his rifle and tries to shoot him. The assassination attempt fails, one of Faoud's companions is fatally wounded. In Rome, the CIA agent Mark Stone is hired to protect Faoud, who is still not out of danger. So the crook Nicolo continues to pull the strings in the background and the killer Toni is also set on Faoud. There are a number of other assassinations that Faoud escapes several times with Mark Stone's help. When it became known that Faoud had a serious heart condition and had to undergo an operation, the attackers took advantage of it again. But Faoud's life can be saved again. After all, Mark Stone finds it strange that the villains always knew where the Kafir king was. He suspects that his secretary is in league with the assassins, but is wrong. Eventually, it turns out that a man on the support committee wanted to shut down Faoud's life in order to follow him on the throne himself. In the end, the killer Toni can be turned off in a gravel pit. The last scene takes place again during a state visit to Venice, this time without incident.

Remarks
The German actors all speak themselves, the dubbing was done by Aura-Film Conrad von Molo . The film was shot on original locations in Venice and Rome. What is unusual for a German film of those years is that it has a trailer that is relatively detailed. Sugar for the Killer appeared on Columbia Film Distribution.
