The Zwölferkopf is a 1491  m above sea level. A. high mountain south of Pertisau am Achensee in Tyrol . It is one of the foothills of the Rauer Knöll branch , the southeastern part of the Karwendel and is a lookout point and location of a hiking and skiing area as well as a paragliding school.

geography

The Zwölferkopf separates the Tristenautal from the Perchertal as a knoll with a spruce forest . The protected landscape area around the Bärenkopf and the border massif between the Inn Valley and the Achensee ( Stanser Joch ) lie south of the elevation .

Infrastructure

A 5- seater gondola lift ( Karwendel mountain railway ) leads up the mountain from Pertisau ( 952  m above sea level ), which climbs 540 meters in altitude in 5 minutes.

There are three walking routes from Pertisau to the Zwölferkopf (either through the Tristenau valley or via a serpentine path on the mountain slope or through the Perchertal from Haus Hubertus , approx. 2 to 2.5 hours).

The summit is the starting point for further hiking trails to Maurach via Wiesenmatten to the Bärenbadalm ( 1457  m ), Weißenbachalm ( 1607  m above sea level ), Weißenbachhütte and through the gorge-like valley of the Weißenbach, which is mostly dry in summer, to the terminus of the Achenseebahn at Haus Seespitz . It is also possible to climb the Bärenkopf. Mountain hikers will find access to the Stanser Joch ridge through the Weißenbachkar via the Weihnachtsegg ( 1740  m above sea level ) down to Jenbach or to the St. Georgenberg-Fiecht Abbey , which was the liege lord of the Achensee region for centuries.

Alpine trails run to the Ochsenkopf ( 2148  m above sea level ), the Gamskarspitze ( 2098  m above sea level ) and the Rappenspitze ( 2223  m above sea level ).

Mountain biking is also possible on some of the routes .

In winter there are four ski runs and two practice slopes, a snowboard hill and routes for winter hiking and snowshoeing on the Zwölferkopf .
