Arthur George Klein (born August 8, 1904 in New York City , † February 20, 1968 there ) was an American lawyer and politician . He represented New York State in the US House of Representatives between 1941 and 1945 and between 1946 and 1956 .

Career

Arthur George Klein was born and raised in New York City in the early 20th century. During this time he attended public schools and Washington Square College at New York University in New York City. In 1926 he graduated from the law school of New York University. He was admitted to the bar in 1927 and then began practicing in New York City. Between 1935 and 1941 he served on the Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, DC and New York City. Politically, he belonged to the Democratic Party .

He was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington DC in a by-election on July 29, 1941 in the 14th  constituency of New York to fill the vacancy created by the death of Morris Michael Edelstein . After a successful re-election he resigned in 1942 to run again and was eliminated from the after January 3, 1945 Congress of. On February 19, 1946, he was elected to the 79th Congress in a by-election in the 19th constituency of New York to fill the vacancy of Samuel Dickstein , who was stepping down from his seat. He was elected to the 80th Congress and re-elected to the four following Congresses. On December 31, 1956, he resigned from his seat.

He was elected a judge on the New York State Court - a position he held from January 1, 1957 until his death. He died on February 20, 1968 in New York City and was then on the Mount Moriah Cemetery in Fairview ( New Jersey buried).
