Demas Hubbard Junior

Demas Hubbard junior (born January 17, 1806 in Winfield , New York , † September 2, 1873 in Smyrna , New York) was an American lawyer and politician . Between 1865 and 1867 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Demas Hubbard Jr. was born in Winfield, Herkimer County , about six years before the outbreak of the British-American War . He attended public schools and pursued an academic career. Hubbard was studying law . After receiving his license to practice law, he began practicing in Smyrna in 1835. Between 1838 and 1840 he was a member of the New York State Assembly . He was the supervisor of Smyrna between 1859 and 1864 . He was elected chairman of the Chenango County's Board of Supervisors . Politically, he belonged to the Republican Party .

In the 1864 congressional elections for the 39th Congress , Hubbard was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 19th electoral district of New York , where he succeeded Samuel Franklin Miller on March 4, 1865 . Since he on a run again in 1866 renounced, he left the after 3 March 1867 Congress of.

After his time at Congress he went back to his practice as a lawyer. He died in Smyrna on September 2, 1873 and was buried in Smyrna East Cemetery .
