Howard 100 and Howard 101 are Sirius Satellite Radio channels that carry programming affiliated with Howard Stern. The content has been on-air since October 2005, though the channels officially launched on January 9 2006 with four shows on the schedule: The Howard Stern Show, Bubba the Love Sponge Show, The Wrap Up Show, and Howard 100 News.

Pre-launch history

Howard 100 (and 101) officially launched on January 9, 2006, though the channel had some pre-launch programming. It also went through a series of different names. Prior to January 2004, channel 100 was named SIRIUS Sessions and played live music.

Originally not scheduled for Sirius Canada's lineup, after fan backlash, Sirius Canada announced that it would air Howard 100 on February 6, 2006 [1]. Mid-May 2006, Sirius Canada announced that it will be adding Howard 101 to its lineup.

Douche 100

Douche 100 and Douche 101 were the pre-launch names of Howard 100 and 101. Most of the Douche 100 air time was dead air and the sound of a ground loop hum, though it did feature one 24-hour special.

Shows on Douche 100:

  • 24 Hour: Fart-athon, a 24 hour show with non-stop farters live in the studio

Howard Stern 100

After the Fart-athon, channel 100 briefly changed its name from Douche 100 to Howard Stern 100 (and 101). Like Douche 100, it did not have much programming and featured the sound of a ground loop hum or natural sound of the sometimes occupied studio. While Stern was on his old terrestrial radio show he and his staff came up with a few twenty-four hour specials.

Howard 100

When Howard 100 News went on the air the official channel names, Howard 100 and 101, were revealed.

Shows that aired on the pre-launched Howard 100 and 101 channels:

Howard Stern Show

When Howard Stern announced his move to Sirius, he announced three channels. Later, channels 100 and 101 joined the Sirius line-up while 102 (the presumed third channel) remained off the dial.

Stern has full programming rights for the two channels, Howard 100 and Howard 101. Before his satellite radio show debuted, both channels carried the same signal. Later, Howard 100 and Howard 101 separated and each now has original programming of its own.

On March 14, 2006, channel 102 became Sirius Stars. However, Stern stated that his contract allows him to create a third Stern channel for Sirius whenever he wishes.

Both channels are available to both American and Canadian subscribers and can be heard world-wide via streaming audio at Sirius's website.

In-development programming

Some shows announced to be on Howard 101 include:

(Note: These shows are in development. Some shows may appear on a regular schedule, while others may be dropped.)

  • Basic Training, host Brent Hatley and a round table of former and active military soldiers discuss various political topics. Basic Training is usually done when the Bubba the Love Sponge show is in New York.
  • The Bitter Half, sitcom, written by Sam Simon, starring the really desperate housewives of the Howard Stern Show. Its only episode debuted on October 25, 2006.
  • The Iron Sheik Show, a show hosted by Iron Sheik with Shuli as his co-host/assistant for the first episode. The show revolved around Iron Sheik discussing past wrestling experiences, drug habits, and taking calls from listeners. Its only episode debuted on October 15, 2007.
  • Kill or Be Killed, a show hosted by Sal the Stockbroker at Caroline's Comedy Club. Comedians compete against each other and face hecklers while being judged. The show first aired on June 26 2006 with Artie Lange, Bob Levy, and Judy Gold serving as judges. A second show was recorded the first week of August for broadcast later that month. Bob Levy, Artie Lange, and Robin Quivers were the celebrity judges.
  • Lesbian Dial-a-Date, dating game for lesbians
  • Out of the Cage, with Andrew Dice Clay, first heard on June 13, 2006
  • The Sex Connection with Dr. Victoria Zdrok

These shows most likely will appear on the schedule under the "Special" time slot when new shows are ready.

Cancelled programming

  • The Friday Show:, The Friday Show took the place of the Howard Stern Show when Stern was off on Fridays. Gary Dell'Abate and Jon Hein played popular clips of past shows. It was later replaced by Master Tape Theatre which plays entire uncensored shows from the WNBC and K-Rock eras.
  • Tissue Time with Heidi Cortez:, Model Heidi Cortez read erotic bed time stories. It originally started as a full hour show while Stern was on terrestrial radio. Heidi took live phone calls and read stories. The show was then moved around to various time slots. When the channels officially launched it was moved to a five minute story show at midnight and four in the morning. Later it was dropped.
  • The Crack Whore View:, a parody version of The View wherein real crack whores showcased their points of view on a variety of issues. Originally aired while Stern was on terrestrial radio. Stern recently said that if they would ever put the show back on they needed to find better crack whores with more wacky views. Specifically he said: “if they can show up on time what kind of crack whores are they?”
  • Sirius for Dummies, helping new users get their Sirius Radio configured.
  • Meet the Sterns, a call-in show featuring Stern's parents. Stern wanted the show to continue, but Stern’s parents said they are retired and don’t want to start a job again.
  • Drunk Scores Girls Roundtable, hosted by drunk Scores girls. Stern and cast hated the original show.
  • Meet the Shrink, in which mental health counselor Leslie Armstrong performed psychoanalysis on Wack Pack members and frequent show guests. Armstrong died on May 22, 2007.[3][4]
