I mainly contributute to articles related to the WikiProjects I participate with, particularly (but by no means exclusive to) local and national geography.
A lover of consistency across articles, my personal aims include producing outstanding articles about places and things important to me and my life, and encourage a greater ethos of teamwork at Wikipedia.
Oldham is a large town in Greater Manchester, England. It lies amongst the Pennines on elevated ground between the rivers Irk and Medlock, 6.9 miles (11.1 km) northeast of the city of Manchester, and 5.3 miles (8.5 km) south-southeast of Rochdale. Oldham rose to prominence during the 19th century as an international centre of textile manufacture, becoming "one of the most important centres of cotton and textile industries in England".
The Peterloo Massacre occurred on 16 August 1819 when cavalry were ordered to charge into a crowd peacefully protesting for parliamentary reform. It resulted in the deaths of 15 and injuries to 600–700 men women and children. The event was largely discounted by the authorities, although it has recently been described as Manchester's Tiananmen Square, and an event in the history of the United Kingdom most in need of a proper memorial.
The United Kingdom Geography WikiProject is dedicated to improving and expanding Wikipedia's coverage of articles related to the Geography of the United Kingdom and is most closely involved with facilitating the development of Britain's settlements and divisions of land; ensuring a consistent approach is taken across the United Kingdom's geography class articles.

"A few hours ago the scurrilous entry was removed, after all it's a sin to lie." Your swift edits were mentioned on BBC North West Tonight (I'm glad they acknowledged that there are good editors here). You certainly deserve this for taking responsibility for the Denshaw article and vastly improving it, showing that wikipedia can work. Nev1 (talk) 21:32, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

This is a list of recognized content, updated weekly by JL-Bot (talk·contribs) (typically on Saturdays). There is no need to edit the list yourself. ^For clarity (as I'm sometimes attacked for this!), although I have this as a statement here out of courtesy for other users, this does not equate to me seeking to have Wikipedia adopt a "Glasgow is a British city in the Scotlandshire part of Great Britain, in the United Kingdom" approach - far from it - I merely support the United Kingdom in its present form, and that's probably owing to me being an Anglo-Scot, which I can't change! That said, in geographical contexts, I am likely remove usage of the "UK" or "United Kingom" and swap it for a consituent country. This is inline with a long-standing consensus, and also the approach taken in every other major encyclopedia and gazetter. I will change the first occurance of "UK" for "United Kingdom" if I see it (per MOS:ABBR). In biographical contexts, I work in the spirit of WP:UKNATIONALS, and to the letter of WP:MOSFLAG, usually using "sub-nationality" in prose, and "British" in infoboxes. My opinion on it all? - the sooner people recognise the UK in terms of Anglo-Celtic, rather than Anglocentric, the better. :)
