Lady Gaga

Demitra George(born March, 1985), best known by her stage name Lady GaGa, is an American singer-songwriter and dance-pop/electronica musician signed to Interscope Records.

On April 8, 2008, she released her debut single, "Just Dance",[1] which went on to reach number one in both Australia and Canada.

Biography

Lady GaGa was born in March 1985, in New York, to a Welsh family. She attended Convent of the Healing Heart school and, as a little girl, she remembers singing into a plastic tape recorder to the likes of Cyndi Lauper and Michael Jackson. By age 4, Lady Gaga had taught herself to play the piano by feel, and when she was a teenager she penned her first song. When she was just 14, she was playing open mic nights at New York’s Bitter End, and by the age of 17 she had been accepted into the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU.

Lady Gaga started working the local Lower East Side club scene, performing then-hits like "Beautiful Dirty Rich" while donning her unique stage outfits. When she was 20 she started working for Interscope Records and was busy writing songs for other musical groups, such as The Pussycat Dolls.

In August 2007 Lady GaGa performed at Lollapalooza.

Career

Lady GaGa recently announced she had submitted songs for Britney Spears' upcoming album Circus.

Lady GaGa performed "Just Dance" with a DJ and two dancers on Australian morning TV show Sunrise on September 26, 2008. There was a "technical hitch" which delayed the singing performance to the backing track, leading to the audible dismay and confusion of the live audience outside the studio where a stage had been erected. The presenters later apologized regarding Lady Gaga's behavior as it is Sunrise Concert policy for all performances to be live.

They released an apology/statement:

This morning's performance from Lady GaGa was obviously not live. That is a clear breach of Sunrise policy on music performances. We'd like to apologise for the segment and assure you we view the breach extremely seriously. We pride ourselves on our live music performances and will continue to deliver Australian audiences with the best acts from here and overseas.

The Fame (2008 – present)

Throughout 2008 Lady Gaga finalised tracks for her debut album "The Fame". While her music ignited the blogosphere, her creative team the "Haus of Gaga", promoted the image of Lady Gaga worldwide via fashion, technology and various media: Lady Gaga's pop persona is styled with blonde geometric bangs and Diamonte encrusted shades, as seen on her album cover. She often wears loose hooded garments with skin-tight pants. Her performances are accompanied by her infamous 'Disco Stick', and more recently a pair of 'iPod sunglasses', which play video content. Her myspace page showcases a weekly web video entitled: "Transmission Gaga-Vision" which highlight performances and appearances made by Lady Gaga.

Building upon the online hype of brand Gaga, Germanotta returned to her club roots, to create a visually fresh showcase of her potential hits. Touring the world throughout the summer with two dancers (Cinnamon and Ginger) and an English DJ (SpaceCowPie) in tow, she dances while singing live over remixed versions of her biggest tracks. Lady Gaga promoted her music releases and charted impressively in both Australia, Finland and Canada. She also performed two exclusive shows in London as early hype for her eventual UK releases.

Following her American tour supporting New Kids on the Block, Lady Gaga has set her sights upon cracking the UK market with the release of "Just Dance" scheduled for the new year.

In the fall of 2008 "Haus of Gaga" turned their focus upon the USA market and Lady Gaga is due to embark upon a tour with the reformed New Kids on the Block with whom she has collaborated on the song 'Big Girl Now'. To coincide with her newest releases, ABC have commissioned a video promo uniting Gaga's second single 'Beautiful Dirty Rich' with their similarly titled hit show Dirty Sexy Money.

The name "Lady GaGa"

According to an interview conducted by Ron Slomowicz, the stage name Lady GaGa is a reference to the song "Radio Ga-Ga" by Queen.[2]
