Hitmixes is the second extended play by US singer Lady Gaga ; it contains remixed versions of five tracks from their first album, The Fame . It was first released on August 25, 2009. Hitmixes was only released in Canada .

Background and publication

On August 19, 2008, Gaga released her debut album The Fame. From this they released five singles, " Just Dance ," " Poker Face ," " LoveGame ," " Paparazzi " and " Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say) ", the latter has not been released in North America, nor to hitmixes to is found. The remaining four singles all made it into the top 3 on the Canadian Hot 100 .

Hitmixes was released on August 25, 2009 through Universal Music Canada only in Canada in CD format. The EP includes remixes of the four hit singles in Canada as well as a remix of the theme song The Fame from the debut album. In addition, two alternative remixes of the songs Just Dance and LoveGame were added. In contrast to the debut album, there are two guest singers on the album: on the one hand Marilyn Manson on LoveGame and on the other hand the Canadian rapper Cardinal Offishall . The remix versions were produced by Chew Fu ( LoveGame ), Space Cowboy ( Poker Face ), red One ( Just Dance ), Moto Blanco ( Paparazzi ), Guéna LG ( The Fame ) and Robots to Mars ( Just Dance , LoveGame ). Musically, the remixes can be assigned to the house style, but also have elements from the trance .

Chart placements

The Extended Play rose on September 12, 2009 as the highest position in the Canadian Hot 100 at number 8. The following week, it fell to # 16, until it dropped from # 23 on the Canadian Hot 100 after the third week.

reception

Since the album was only released in Canada, the number of reviews is limited: the critic of the Calgary Herald was of the opinion that the remixes of most of the songs were "refined and decadent". Dan Rankin from Blare Magazine , who gave the EP three and a half stars out of five, also criticized the fact that the remixes had different successes. He particularly highlighted Cardinal Offishall's contribution to the RedOne remix of Just Dance ; this and the Chew-Fu-Ghettohouse-Fix-Remix by LoveGame are the best tracks on the disc.
