Love Game ( "Love Game") is an electro - song of the American singer Lady Gaga , she with Nadir Khayat wrote. It comes from her debut album The Fame .

The song received good reviews for its catchy sound and the "I wanna take a ride on your disco stick" part. Musically a reflection of the New York underground clubs, the song is about love, fame and sex, the central themes of the entire album. "LoveGame" was in the top ten in the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and many European countries. It became Lady Gaga's third number 1 hit in a row on the Billboard Pop Song Chart .

Emergence

LoveGame was produced by RedOne. In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Lady Gaga explained the background of the text, in particular the passage "Let's have some fun this beat is sick / I wanna take a ride on your disco stick":

“It's another one of my well thought-out tail metaphors. I was in a New York nightclub, had a pretty sexual encounter with a guy like that and said, 'I wanna ride on your disco stick'. The next day I was in the studio and wrote the song in about four minutes. When I sing the song live, I have a stick with me that looks like a giant candy dildo and lights up. ")

Music video

The music video for LoveGame premiered on February 13, 2009. The film was shot in Los Angeles, but the set is supposed to represent a New York subway station. Something is reminiscent of Michael Jackson's video for Bad , which is also set in a subway station. In Australia, the video for LoveGame was not shown on television because of the references to BDSM and the offensive nature of the text.

Reviews

Sal Cinquemant of Slant Magazine was derogatory: The lyrics were lyrical drivel and she sang about sex without her voice showing any sex appeal. Ben Norman from About.com, on the other hand, rated LoveGame rather positively and characterized LoveGame as a "club stomper" (for example: disco howler).

Charts

The song debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 96 on April 4, 2009, but fell off the charts the following week. After six weeks it reached 6th place with 107,000 downloads. Two weeks later, LoveGame ranked 5th on the Billboard Hot 100 and became Lady Gaga's third top five hit in the US. The song soon peaked at number one on the hot dance club charts and became Lady Gaga's third number 1 hit on the pop songs charts. LoveGame has been sold digitally over a million times.
