Rain on Me is a song by Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande that they wrote with Nija Charles , Rami Yacoub , Tchami , Boys Noize and the producers BloodPop and Burns . The song was released as the second single from Lady Gaga's sixth studio album Chromatica and was released on May 22, 2020.

Rain on Me was created in collaboration with Ariana Grande. According to Lady Gaga, the song “is also a metaphor for tears and for the amount of alcohol I consumed to numb myself. I'd rather be dry, but at least I'm alive, it's raining on me. "

Rain on Me is included as the fourth song on the album Chromatica , which was released on May 29, 2020. The song itself was released on May 22, 2020, at the same time as a music video. This was directed by filmmaker Robert Rodriguez , who also shot the 2013 exploitation film Machete Kills , in which Gaga starred. In the music video, the two artists are shown in a rain-soaked urban landscape, reminiscent of an apocalyptic rave, as the singers and their armies of dancers wear club equipment from the 1990s, such as platform boots and latex outfits that round off the track's vintage aesthetic, says Alexa Camp from Slant magazine . First, Lady Gaga lies on the floor in the video with a knife stuck in one of her thighs. The release of Rain on Me and its music video on May 22nd coincided with the third anniversary of the Islamist suicide bombing in Manchester . On May 22, 2017, shortly after the end of a Grandes Dangerous Woman Tour concert in the Manchester Arena, a suicide bomber blew himself up in the foyer of the arena, killing 22 people and injuring 512 people.
