MTV Video Music Awards / Best Cinematography

The MTV Video Music Award for Best Cinematography is one of the technical categories. It is one of the few awards that have been given continuously since 1984. It was only suspended once in 2007. From 1984 to 2006 it was called Best Cinematography in a Video .

As with all technical categories, in this case the artist, the artist's manager as well as the actual performer, in this case the director of photography of the video, are recognized.

Harris Savides , who received the award three times, holds the record . The most frequently nominated (nine times) was Daniel Pearl. In the artist category, Madonna and Beyoncé each won three awards . Madonna was nominated most often , ten times.

Ryan Lewis was nominated as both performer and director of photography for his cinematography on the video Can't Hold Us .
