MTV Video Music Awards / Best Video from a Film
The MTV Video Music Award for Best Video from a Film was first given in 1987. The award was given to “Videos” of songs that were part of a soundtrack or were used prominently in a film. At the same time, the video should represent the film in one form. This category was very prominent for a while, but over the years there have been fewer and fewer videos based on films. The MTV Movie Awards were also introduced. Therefore, the category was awarded for the last time in 2003.
While the award was only given once to all artists, Madonna , Will Smith and U2 were the only artists to be nominated three times.
The two films Singles - Lonely Together and Batman Forever were the only films from which two videos each were nominated.
