MTV Video Music Awards / Best Concept Video

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The MTV Video Music Awards for Best Concept Video should honor music videos that specifically address the concept of the song and interpret the text. The first winner was Herbie Hancock , all the more surprising since Michael Jackson with Thriller was nominated in the same category .

The award was last given in 1988. Over the years, the award became obsolete as the concept of visualizing the lyrics became a large part of pop culture in the 1990s.
