The MTV Video Music Awards for Best Latino Artist has been presented since 2006. From 2006 to 2009 it was awarded as part of the Los Premios MTV Latinoamérica (also known as MTV Video Music Awards Latinoamérica or VMALA’s ).

In 2010 he was introduced as tr3́s Latino Artist of the Year and then Best Latino Artist as part of the MTV Video Music Awards . However, it was not awarded at the main event, but only announced during the Spanish broadcast on Tr3s .
