Los Premios MTV Latinoamérica

On October 24, 2002 , the first MTV Latinoamerica premios were awarded at the Jackson Gleason Theater in Miami Beach , Florida , United States. The annual award ceremony from then on took place three times in the same place, after which the event was moved to Mexico, where it took place in different places and cities until 2008. With one exception, the event always took place in mid-October. At the Los Premios 2005, the first event in Mexico, the award ceremony had to be postponed to December because of Hurricane Katrina .

In 2009 the award ceremony took place at four different locations in Mexico, Argentina, Colombia and Los Angeles. The live broadcast was broadcast from Los Angeles on October 15, 2009.

In 2010 the awards were discontinued and replaced by a concert event called MTV World Stage Mexico.

A pink, pierced tongue, the so-called "Lengua" (Spanish for tongue), was chosen as the prize.
