Life
He was born to Haitian parents in Crown Heights , New York . Together with his classmate Lauryn Hill , he founded the rap group Tranzlator Crew in 1987 . In 1997 he released his first solo single, a cover of Eddy Grant's hit Electric Avenue . This was followed by his biggest hit to date, Ghetto Supastar, together with singer Mýa and rapper Ol 'Dirty Bastard in the summer of 1998. It was a reinterpretation of the song Islands in the Stream , written by the Bee Gees , with Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton had worldwide success in 1983. For the film Small Soldiers , Wyclef Jean remixed the Queen hit Another One Bites The Dust . Michel contributed a rap verse to this piece. In 1998 the singles Blue Angels and What'cha Wanna Do followed . In 2005 Michel’s comeback single Haven't Found was released .
In 1999 Michel made his film debut in Ben Stiller's comedy Mystery Men , where he acted as a minor villain. In 2008, a role followed in the SF action film Mutant Chronicles , which he also co-produced.
In 2001 he promoted the newcomer Dante Thomas and contributed a rap verse to his debut single Miss California . In Germany the song climbed to the top of the charts for a week.
