Gypsy ( dt .: 'Gypsy') is a song by the American pop singer Lady Gaga . The song comes from their third studio album ARTPOP , which was released in 2013. It was written by Lady Gaga, RedOne , Hugo Leclerq and DJ White Shadow. Gypsy was played as an encore on the ArtRave: The Artpop Ball tour in 2014.

In October 2013 Lady Gaga sang the song on a piano at a "listening party" of her new album in Berlin . She wore a fake mustache. She said of the song that she wrote it when she was traveling around the world. She goes on to say that many believe that Gypsies have no home, but she thinks that they have one, namely with their fans. Malene Arpe from the Toronto Star said about her performance that it caused goosebumps in many and that it quickly made people forget the false mustache in the middle of their face. Lady Gaga also played the song at her ArtRave concert in November 2013 and on the 2014 tour of the same name. The song was also played on Saturday Night Live and on Lady Gaga's second Thanksgiving TV special, Lady Gaga and the Muppets' Holiday Spectacular , that broadcast on ABC. In an interview with SXSW in March 2014, she said that the song actually deserves a video.

Gypsy mostly got good reviews. Entertainment Weekly's Adam Markovitz described the song as one of the best songs on the album, calling it "palatable". Celebuzz's Matt Rusoniello named Gypsy the new The Edge of Glory after noticing similarities to the song from their previous 2011 album. He also said that the song could later be released as a single. Rolling Stone's Caryn Ganz praised the lyrics and described them as an "80s anthem". Time magazine's Chris Bosman says Gypsy is the "epic ending to the album," along with the previous track Dope . However, he criticized that the song was actually not unique enough.
Chart placements
The song could not place in the charts worldwide; it only landed at number 35 in the South Korean charts and at number 26 in the US Pop Digital Songs of Billboard magazine in the USA. In South Korea the song was downloaded 3549 times.
