(11846) Minnen is an asteroid of the main belt , which was discovered on September 21, 1987 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the Rožen Observatory ( IAU code 071) in Roschen near Smoljan in Bulgaria . The asteroid had previously been sighted in October 1975 under the provisional designation 1975 TP 2 at the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj .
(11846) Verminnen was named on December 12, 2008 after the Belgian singer and songwriter Johan Verminnen (* 1951), who often addresses the Belgian capital Brussels in his songs .
