(13691) Akie is an asteroid of the main middle belt discovered on September 30, 1997 by Japanese amateur astronomer Atsuo Asami at the Hadano Observatory ( IAU code 355) in Kanagawa Prefecture . The asteroid had already been sighted on February 14, 1983 under the provisional designation 1983 CQ 5 at the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan in Mitaka near Tokyo .
The asteroid was named on July 26, 2000 after the wife of the discoverer: Akie Asami (* 1957).
